Restaurant Cooks are trained to plan and carry out food preparation and customer service tasks in the catering sector.
As a restaurant cook you can work in a sales-minded, customer service oriented and quality conscious manner. You know how to work profitably, productively, and responsibly while operating in compliance with hygiene requirements and sustainable operating practices.
A restaurant cook who has completed the qualification knows how to carry out cooking tasks in restaurants, public sector or in various positions in hospitality industry with different business ideas or missions. They learn how to prepare tasty, nutritious food comprehensively, taking special diets into account. A cook also knows how to serve food for individual customer or for a large group of customers.

A restaurant cook is a Culinary Expert who has completed the competence area of food services is qualified to work at various of tasks in the hospitality field like hotels and lounges, cruise ships, restaurants with different concepts, cafés and catering, tourism service companies or various institutions.

1. Full-time day program studies
2 . Work-based studies if you have experience and you are already working in a restaurant.
Who can apply?
Persons who live in Finland or in EU countries and lack vocational qualification, degree or a study place and have a sufficient level of English language skills.

Starting days for full-time day studies
New study groups for day-time studies will start twice a year, in January and in August. This study program includes practical lessons both demonstration kitchens and classroom. The studies include training periods in our Perho’s teaching restaurant and various restaurants in metropolitan area and all over the world.
Next full-time day program to become a Culinary Expert, Cook will start on the 10th of August 2023. Please, note that you can apply for the studies any time of the year.
