About the Travel Assistant training

The training focuses on customer service and basic guiding skills in an international work environment. The final aim is to pass the competence demonstration (unit: Guiding in foreign language/tutkinnon osa: Opastaminen vieraalla kielellä, which is a unit of the Further vocational qualification of Guide Services). The competence demonstration consists of planning and conducting a guided service in central Helsinki.

This training consists of multiform learning including contact lessons, practical training and online learning. The lessons will be given 1-2 afternoons a week, at 3-7 PM, mainly on the Töölö campus and in central Helsinki. In addition there will be tasks and assignments to be done independently.

Training period: 24.2.–11.4.2025.
Orientation to the studies: 24.–25.2. 2025
Final exams on week 16: 14.–16.4.2025

The training fee is 150 €. Apprenticeship training 100 €


The purpose of the training

  • Improve knowledge, skills and attitude which will allow the student to work in the tourism industry
  • Find part-time work opportunities as a free-lancer in the tourism industry.
  • Build professional networks within industry.

Application period: 16.12.2024–31.1.20253
Interviews: 3.–4.2.2025 btw 08.30–14.00

Representatives of Perho Culinary, Tourism and Business College make a pre-selection based on the applications. The applicants who meet the requirements will be invited to a face-to-face interview. It is therefore important that in the application the applicant describes the suitability and motivation to work as a Travel Assistant. The interviews will be organized by Perho Culinary, Tourism and Business College (Helsinki) at week 6, 2025.
