Perho graduated Restaurant Cooks are qualified to work at various tasks in the hospitality field like hotels and lounges, cruise ships, restaurants with different concepts, cafés and catering, tourism service companies or various institutions.

A Restaurant Cook knows how to prepare tasty, nutritious food comprehensively, taking special diets into account. They also know how to serve food for individual customers or a larger group of customers.


Two options to become Culinary Expert

1 / THE WORK-BASED STUDY PROGRAM

In the work-based study program you will learn by working and become a culinary expert. You come to school monthly for two days and study also online. There is no tuition fee. Studies lasts 1–2 years on average.

  • Studies takes place as an apprenticeship or a training agreement with your employer.
  • On average, two monthly school days at Töölö Campus, Perhonkatu 11, FI-00100 Helsinki.

Applying for the work-based studies

You can apply if

  • you live in Finland.
  • you have have previous work experience in restaurants at least one year.
  • you have sufficient level of English language skills.
  • your current employer is willing to sign an apprenticeship or a training agreement.

Interview of applicants

We will invite selected applicants for an interview based on their application and supporting documents, including educational certificates, a motivation letter and employer’s contact information. In the interview, we pay attention to your career plan, motivation, and preconditions in studying the vocational qualification in Restaurant and Catering Services.


2 / THE FULL-TIME DAY STUDY PROGRAM

Applying period for the full-time day studies 9.9.–11.11.2024

You can apply if you live in Finland, you have completed upper secondary level education and you do not have a vocational qualification, degree, or a study place. You must have sufficient level of English language skills.

  • you do not have a vocational qualification, degree, or a study place in restaurant and catering education.
  • you have sufficient level of English language skills.

In the full-time day study program you can start from the scratch and become a culinary expert. There is no tuition fee. Studies lasts 1,5–2 years on average.

  • The study program includes practical lessons in both training kitchens and service classrooms.
  • The studies include training periods in Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College’s teaching restaurant Perho and in various restaurants in Helsinki metropolitan area or abroad.
  • Campus: Töölö, Perhonkatu 11, FI-00100 Helsinki
  • Studies are starting on the Orientation Day 10th of December 2024 from 13 to 16 pm and full-time schedule 8th of Janury 2025.
