In the Helsinki metropolitan area, the coronavirus epidemic is accelerating and one student at Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College has been tested positive for coronavirus this week. In accordance with the instructions provided by the authorities, all necessary measures have been taken for students and staff members at risk of exposure.

At the end of last week, the authorities issued new recommendations for actions that will also be taken into account and followed at Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College.

The amount of distance learning will be increased in the third period

For now, the campuses of Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College remain open, but

the amount of distance learning carried out via iPerho will be increased in the learning solutions used in the third period that will begin on October 5, 2020.

Perho’s staff members will plan the distance teaching so that contact will be kept with each student. In addition, a sufficient amount of contact teaching will be provided at the campuses to support learning, and safety will be taken into account at all times. With these solutions, we reduce the number of students on campus at the same time as well as the risk of infection related to travelling to and from school.

At Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College, the culinary, tourism, and business education is provided via various learning solutions and implementation methods. Your personal career counsellor will provide you with more information on the programme and schedules for the third period. Please note that due to the development of the COVID-19 situation, the programme and schedules may change rapidly.

We strongly recommend the use of a face mask to everyone

• moving about in the public indoor areas (corridors and lobbies) at Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College, as many other students also use those facilities.
• during teaching that is conducted at a group’s own classroom or another working facility. We understand that it may be difficult to use a face mask but it is nevertheless recommended.
• when travelling on trains, buses, or other forms of public transport to school/home and other places.   It is important to continue to take account of the current recommendation of using a face mask.

In the Helsinki metropolitan area, the recommendation also applies extensively to crowded public spaces (e.g., shops and libraries).

The students must acquire the face masks for themselves. Shops offer a wide range of face masks, and it is also possible to ask the municipality for the opportunity to get face masks.

COVID-19-related rules and guidelines to be followed at Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College

Together we are all responsible for the safety of the Perho school community and the prevention of the spread of the disease. Please also exercise caution and follow the COVID-19 guidelines in connection with hobbies and other activities outside the school. We want to continuously improve the safety of Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College in these rapidly changing conditions.

We are constantly monitoring the health and education authorities’ guidelines on the coronavirus situation and, e.g., the use of face masks. If new official guidelines are issued later, we will evaluate the guidelines of Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College on their basis.
