Mastering First-Level Management – Tools and Techniques for Effective Team Leadership
Now you have the opportunity to complete a one module of the Finnish Vocational qualification in First-Level Management. Do you work as a team leader, shift manager or in another first-level supervisory role? This training strengthens your everyday leadership skills – you will learn to communicate clearly, support your team’s work and improve operational fluency.
At Perho Culinary, Tourism and Business College, the training is integrated into your daily work and supports you in your supervisory duties. At the same time, it provides concrete benefits for your employer, as what you learn is transferred directly into practice. You will receive personal guidance and develop your professional skills.
The training is suitable for both new and experienced supervisors who want to act responsibly and effectively within their work community.
After completing your studies, you will receive an official Finnish certificate for the qualification module.
The training program consist one module:

What skills and competencies will you gain from the training?
The training deepens your expertise as a first-level supervisor and equips you to lead a team or department, develop the work community, and manage operations in a goal-oriented, responsible, and people-focused way. The training also includes Finnish language studies.
Implementation and study methods
The Vocational Qualification in First-Level Management is completed through demonstrations in practical supervisory tasks within your own workplace.
The training is primarily carried out as an apprenticeship in cooperation with your employer. Studies are carried out through an apprenticeship, which requires you to work at least 25 hours per week on average throughout the entire study period.
The student pays a one‑time qualification fee of 100 euros.
You will learn in the training, by working independently, and in your own daily work.
During the training, you will explore, among other things:
- the core duties of a supervisor and communication skills
- leadership of well-being at work and work ability
- planning and developing operations
- employment legislation relevant to supervisors
- onboarding and guidance
- motivation leadership and customer experience development
Experts during the training days provide personal and practical guidance on different areas of supervisory work.
